Altweilnau & Esterau condominia
This page covers the territory of Herrschaft Altweilnau and Gericht Esterau, both of which were at least temporarily condominia between Ottonian and Walramian Nassuvian entities. Neither entity was ever a coherent country, but they warrant country-level treatment to capture the different participants in the condominia over time. In 1631, the Walramian and Ottonian lines traded their interests in those two subdivisions such that Altweilnau became fully Walramian (until 1717) and Esterau became fully Ottonian. The page does not cover the periods in which Altweilnau and Esterau belonged to a single country.
To keep the country names from becoming too unwieldy, I drop terms that I think are expendable. The dropped terms are rendered in gray for the first country in which they appear, then are omitted altogether in later countries.

Simplified country names identified as “external” or “shared” also apply to other condominia. Rather than duplicate the information on multiple pages, the information for the country combination is provided only on the page where it is identified as “shared”. On condominium pages that do not contain the information, the name is identified in the index as “external” and the link leads to the page where the information is “shared”. When you click on an “external” link, you can use the back arrow to return to the original page. Alternatively, you can use the links in the “Predecessor” or “Successor” sections of the combination you are looking at to go to the pages of the combinations that preceded or succeeded it.

- You can use the “Index of countries with which the Camberg condominium was associated” to go directly to any one of the country combinations listed. Unless the link is identified as “external”, you can then click on “Return to index” to get back. (If the link is identified as “external”, you will have to use the back arrow to get back.)
- Alternatively, you can trace a particular subdivision through time by going to the first linked country, then clicking on the successor country to get to the next one. Continue until you reach the end of the condominium. Occasionally, this will lead you do a different page, but there should still be a successor country to click on, which may even lead you back to this page.
- The simplified country names listed in the Index are linked to one of the country combinations that made up the condominium. Once you reach one of those combinations, however, the listed simplified country name contains separate links to each of the participating countries mentioned in the name. There are even links to participants not mentioned in the simplified name for space reasons. Those are in gray.
