Other Holstein villages administered by Lübeck citizens or institutions prior to 1804

In addition to the villages under Holstein sovereignty that were administered by the St. Johanniskloster and the Heiligen Geist Hospital (both Lübeck institutions), there were several villages administered by the St. Clemenskaland  and several others administered by individual citizens of Lübeck or by institutions that owned only one village. I organize those into the following subdivisions:

 

• St. Clemenskaland (Gericht Merkendorf), initially consisting of four villages near the city of Neustadt (Holstein), but Gericht Merkendorf was enlarged in 1804 to include Bentfeld (which was owned by the St. Johanniskloster).
• Stadtstiftsdörfer (Samtgericht Röbel), consisting of scattered villages in what is now Kreis Ostholstein that met a variety of fates. None of them remained under Holstein sovereignty while being administered by Lübeck subjects after 1804, so at that point, I discontinued the Samtgericht. The dispostion of the villages was as follows:
  • Gremersdorf and Bollbrügge were assigned to Amt Oldenburg in 1623 and eventually became Fideikommißgüter, still under Holstein sovereignty but under the administration of the Bishopric of Lübeck (what I call Holstein-Eutin);
  • Klein Wessek was transferred to the Cathedral Chapter of the Bishopric of Lübeck in 1793 (Amt* Groβvogtei in Lübeck-Eutin);
  • Malkendorf was transferred to the city of Lübeck in 1802, where I add it to Quasi-Amt Holstentor; and
  • Röbel was placed under the administration of the Principality of Lübeck in 1804 (in what I call Gericht Scharbeutz of Holstein-Oldenburg) and was fully incorporated into the Principality in 1843.
• Stadtstiftsdörfer (Gericht Westerau), initially consisting of two villages in what is now Kreis Stormarn, but was enlarged in 1804 to include two adjacent villages owned by the Heiligen Geist Hospital.
