Amt Trittau

A castle was built in Trittau in 1326 and a Vogtei was created around it, which eventually became an Amt. In the 1544 partition of Holstein, Amt Trittau was assigned to Holstein-Gottorp. It reverted to the core Duchy of Holstein in 1773, when the Gottorp line relinquished its claims in Holstein.

In 1576, 11 villages that had been administered by the Hamburg Domkapitel (while remaining under Holstein sovereignty) were turned over to Amt Trittau. In 1609, the Amt undertook a major trade of territory with Amt Reinbek, receiving the villages of Glinde, Köthel, and Witzhave in exchange for Barsbüttel, Oststeinbek, Stemwarde, and Willinghusen (all of which had been included in the 1576 acquisition).

In 1737, the Amt surrendered Gut Lanken, an exclave surrounded by the Duchy of Saxe-Lauenburg, to that duchy.
