Amt Reinbek

Gericht Kirchsteinbek

Gut Silk

The Reinbek convent (Kloster) was founded in 1224 and and was granted land in 1238. In 1529, the convent was secularized and its lands were converted into an Amt. In the 1544 partition of Holstein, Amt Reinbek was assigned to Holstein-Gottorp. It reverted to the core Duchy of Holstein in 1773, when the Gottorp line relinquished its claims in Holstein.

In 1609, Amt Reinbek undertook a major trade of territory with Amt Trittau, receiving the villages of Barsbüttel, Oststeinbek, Stemwarde, and Willinghusen in exchange for Glinde, Köthel, and Witzhave. Between 1750 and 1768, nine villages, which I have grouped together in Gericht Kirchsteinbek, were administered by Stadt Hamburg while remaining under Holstein sovereignty (simplified country name—Holstein-Hamburg). The date spans for those nine villages under Amt Reinbek below should be understood to exclude the period during which they belonged to Gericht Kirchsteinbek.

Gut Silk was created within the Amt in 1608. In 1765, it became a Kanzleigut and left the Amt.
