Core Lauenburg Güter

“Core” Lauenburg is defined as territory that was placed under Danish sovereignty in 1815. Güter south of the Elbe or further upstream and surrounded by Amt Neuhaus are excluded because they did not remain part of Saxe-Lauenburg after 1815.

Adlige Gūter were not included in any Ämter. I place all Gūter in core Lauenburg into a quasi-Gūterdistrikt to parallel the formal Gūterdistrikte in nearby Holstein. Many of the Gūter contained a single village. Those are listed first. Otherwise, the villages in each Gut are listed separately. At the bottom are Gūter that were not originally under Lauenburg sovereignty. Those joining Lauenburg in 1568 (Schenkenburg) or 1747 (Kastorf, Rondeshagen, Bliestorf, and Grinau) were previously under Lübeck sovereignty. Gut Lanken, which joined in 1737, was previously part of Amt Trittau in Holstein-Gottorp.
