Lordship of Bassenheim-Ollbrück/Bornheim

 

This page covers the lineage-based country of Bassenheim-Ollbrück, which changed its name to Bassenheim-Bornheim in 1629. Prior to 1763, it had no core territory, but formed personal unions with small lordships, participated in condominia, and acquired administrative rights to territory under the sovereignty of other countries. No places have been assigned to this country, so I give it no simplified name. Instead, I append the second component of its name to the countries with which it was in personal union or in which it participated in a condominium. (The first component is redundant with the nation name so I don’t use it in simplified country names.)

  • 1554: Created in a partition of Bassenheim with a 33% interest in the Bassenheimian share of Herrschaft Ollbrück/beginning of database
  • 1555: Acquires administrative rights over Waldorf (an Unterherrschaft of the Electorate of Cologne) and an expanded interest in the Ollbrück condominium when it becomes fully Bassenheimian; adopts the Ollbrück name
  • 1588-9: Acquires and spins-off the Lordship of Königsfeld (1)
  • 1629: Acquires administrative rights over the core Honschaft of Bornheim (but not the entire Herrlichkeit, which was administered by a subject of the Electorate of Cologne); adopts the Bornheim name
  • 1735: Upon the extinction of the Gudenau line, acquires the following:
    • a partitioned portion of Ollbrück (instead of an interest share), with which it enters into a personal union
    • administrative rights over Drachenfels and Wolkenburg (Unterherrschaften of the Electorate of Cologne)
  • 1763: Upon the extinction of the Königsfeld line, reacquires portions of Königsfeld, with which it enters into a personal union
  • 1777: Sells the administrative rights to Drachenfels and Wolkenburg to Vorst-Lombeck-Gudenau
