- 1656: Entered into a personal union with Schaumburg upon its purchase by Melander’s widow; entered into a personal union with Dillenburg-Dillenburg upon the death of the widow and their daughter, who was married to the prince, inherited the county
- 1676: Personal union limited to Schaumburg upon the death of the prince
- 1692: Granddaughter of Melander promised future rule upon marriage to an Ascanian prince
- 1700: Holzappel (but not Schaumburg) inherited by Melander’s Ascanian great-grandson upon death of his mother
- 1707: Terminated upon the formal merger of Holzappel and Schaumburg
