Amt Blomberg

Amt Schieder

Amt Schieder was included in the territory that was spun off to Lippe-Spiegelberg-Pyrmont between 1558 and 1583. Then, in 1613, both Amt Blomberg and Amt Schieder (but not Stadt Blomberg) were spun off to subordinate counties, but to different ones—Blomberg to Lippe-Brake and Schieder to Lippe-Schwalenberg. In 1620, the Schwalenberg line died out and Schieder joined Blomberg in Lippe-Brake. Although the Brake line died out in 1709, it was not until a territorial dispute was resolved in 1748 that the two Ämter were assigned to a new country—in this case to Schaumburg-Lippe. From there, Schieder was spun off to the subordinate County of Schaumburg-Lippe-Alverdissen between 1756 and 1777, after which it was retuned to Lippe-Detmold. Amt Blomberg was not returned to Lippe until 1838.

 

Shortly after Blomberg returned to Lippe, it underwent an exchange of villages with Schieder to make the two Ämter closer to the same size.
