Amt Arensburg

Amt Arensburg grew up around a castle of the same name that dates from the early 14th century. When Schaumburg was partitioned in 1647, Arensburg was assigned to Schaumburg-Lippe. It maintained its separate identity within that country until it was absorbed into the German Empire in 1871.

In 1879, beyond the scope of this project, it merged with Amt Bückeburg to form Amt Bückeburg-Arensburg.
