Principality of Anhalt (adm. Statius von Münchhausen in Grohnde)

The Ämter of Dornburg, Gernrode, Großalsleben and Mühlingen were under Anhalt sovereignty in 1606, but were not included in the partition that occurred at that time.

 

• Gernrode and Großalsleben were were under full Anhalt control in 1606, but were designated as Senioratsämter, meaning that the senior of the four princes was to administer them for the benefit of the collective principalities.
• Mühlingen was the administrative responsibility of the County of Barby in 1606. When the last Count of Barby died in 1659, administrative responsibility reverted to Anhalt and Mühlingen was designated a Senioratsamt.
• Dornburg was the administrative responsibility of Statius von Münchhausen, the Drost of Grohnde (hence, the simplified country name of Anhalt-Grohnde) in 1606. His son relinquished that responsibility in 1667 and Dornburg fell to Anhalt-Zerbst.
