Stadt Quedlinburg

Gericht Ditfurt

Ditfurt and other villages in the Quedlinburg area were settled in the 9th century. Quedlinburg itself served as the seat of the last East Frankish king (Henry I) before his son (Otto I) became the first Holy Roman Emperor. Shortly after the Empire was founded, Quedlinburg Abbey was founded and assumed sovereignty over the area.
