Amt Klötze

Gericht Lauenbrück

The Principality of Lüneburg had two noncontiguous subdivisions:

  • Amt Klötze was a collection of noncontiguous villages surrounded by Brandenburg territory east of the main body of the Principality. They were acquired by Lüneburg in the 13th century and constituted an adeliches Gericht until 1743, when they formed an Amt.
  • Gericht Lauenbrück was a river crossing on the Wümme founded in 1358. Although it was located between the Archbishopric/Duchy of Bremen and the Bishopric/Principality of Verden, it was under Lüneburg sovereignty where it constituted an adeliches Gericht.
