Landesteil Calenberg

After the Principality of Calenberg acquired the Principality of Göttingen, the county retained the Calenberg name. To distinguish the territory of the original principality from the expanded principality, I call the territory of the original a “Landesteil” of the larger principality. (I also apply the term to the former territory of Göttingen and, after 1665, to the former territory of Grubenhagen.)

Stift Loccum was a subdivision of Landesteil Calenberg that included the village of Wiedensahl, which had belonged to Schaumburg prior to 1647. More details will be provided when the Calenberg region is processed.
