Amt Wulfen

and predecessor (pre-1812) Gerichte

Amt Wulfen was one of the original Ämter assigned to Anhalt-Köthen when the Principality of Anhalt was divided in 1606. In contrast, several nearby villages were not owned by any of the Princes of Anhalt, but were recognized as part of Anhalt-Köthen. Rather than assign them to an Amt, the administration of those villages was the responsibility of the owners. Although those villages were not all under the same administration, but I combined them into collective entities (“Samtgerichte”) based on geographical proximity to one another. Those entities were not organized into formal Ämter until 1812, when they were added to Amt Wulfen.
