Amt Wilhelmstein
The Count of Jülich built the Wilhelmstein castle north of Aachen in the mid-13th century and it became the seat of an Amt. Before Amt Eschweiler was associated with Oberamt Jülich, it was associated with Amt Wilhelmstein.
Two adjacent Unterherrschaften were not legally part of the Amt, but were grouped with it for statistical purposes. They were administered by local nobles and were considered part of the Duchy. (Although the legal Amt was not subdivided, I treat it as a quasi-Gericht to distinguish it from the Unterherrschaften that were associated with the Amt.)
