Amt Steinbach
Amt Steinbach was one of the eight original bergisch Ãmter as documented in 1363. Its original seat was Steinburg castle near Lindlar, later moving to Neuenberg Castle several miles to the east (but still in modern Lindlar). It consisted of Stadt and Gericht Wipperfürth (between which I make no distinction) and two other Gerichte, covering the modern subdivisions of Wipperfürth, Lindlar, Engelskirchen, and Kürten.
