Amt Moisburg

Moisburg was founded in the 13th century and a castle was built there in the 14th century. The Amt probably dates from that time.

Amt Moisburg was part of Lüneburg-Celle until 1560, when it was added to Lüneburg-Harburg. In 1642, it reverted to Lüneburg-Celle where it remained until the Napoleonic occupation.

Amt Moisburg was divided into three Vogteien. The largest of those (Hollenstedt) was augmented at some point between 1593 and 1667 by several villages previously part of Vogtei Tostedt in Amt Harburg. Being unable to pinpoint the exact year, however, I assume it occurred when the two Ämter involved rejoined Lüneburg-Celle in 1642.
