Amt Lage

and predecessor (pre-1806) Vogteien

and Stadt Lage (post 1843)

Amt Detmold was divided into Vogteien starting in 1535. Thereafter, whenever the County of Lippe was divided, Amt Detmold and all of its Vogteien remained part of the core county, namely Lippe-Detmold. Over time, most of the Vogteien in Amt Detmold broke off and formed their own Ämter. The Vogteien of Lage and Heiden broke off to form Amt Lage in 1806. Stadt Lage left the Amt to become an independent city in 1843.
