Amt Knesebeck

A castle in Knesebeck, east of Celle and north of Gifhorn, was the seat of a noble estate beginning in the late 13th century. It was acquired by the Principality of Lüneburg in 1343, where it became the seat of an Amt. It was not subdivided, but two adliche Gerichte (largely administered by noble landowners) were associated with it, so I recognize a quasi-Vogtei to include the villages outside of the Gerichte. In 1692, several villages were transferred from Vogtei Steimke in Brandenburg to Gericht Brome.
