Amt Hagen (Bremen)

Samtgericht Cassebruch

A church was built in Bramstedt in the 10th century and a Börde grew up around it. Hagen was founded in the 12th century and became the home of a castle. In 1248, a Vogtei was formed by the Archbishop of Bremen that combined the territories of Bramstedt and Hagen, which retained the name of Börde Bramstedt.

The villages of the Osterstader Marsch, traditionally divided between north and south, were originally part of the Peasant Republic of Stedingen, but were conquered by the Archbishopric of Bremen in 1233. By the mid-16th century, they had been combined with Börde Bramstedt to form Amt Hagen.

Three single-village noble Gerichte were also established in territory surrounded by Amt Hagen. I have combined them into Samtgericht Cassebruch.
