Amt Euskirchen

Euskirchen was originally part of the lordship of Montjoie (now Monschau) and Valkenburg. It received city rights in 1302 and joined the Duchy of Jülich in 1369, forming an Amt with two nearby villages.

Three adjacent Unterherrschaften were not legally part of the Amt, but were grouped with it for statistical purposes. They were administered by local nobles and were considered part of the Duchy. (Although the legal Amt was not subdivided, I treat it as a quasi-Gericht to distinguish it from the Unterherrschaften that were associated with the Amt.)
