Amt Bokeloh

Amt Mesmerode

Amt Bokeloh grew up around a castle of the same name that dates from 13th century. It was part of the County of Schaumburg. The nearby single-village Amt of Mesmerode was under Guelphic sovereignty, but Schaumburg exercised administrative rights after 1565. When Schaumburg was partitioned in 1647, both Bokeloh and Mesmerode were assigned to the Guelphic portion, Brunswick-Calenberg, where they were combined under the Bokeloh name.

In 1819, beyond the scope of this project, Amt Bokeloh was abolished and merged into Amt Blumenau.
