Lordships of Gelsdorf, Lantershofen, and Wald
Three lordships roughly between Bonn and Bad Neuenahr consisted of only a single village each. They were as follows:
- Gelsdorf, near Altenahr. This lordship emerged in the early 13th century. It was initially subordinate to the County of Neuenahr. In 1382, Gelsdorf fell under the sovereignty of the Electorate of Cologne, although it was administered by other parties—the County of Schleiden beginning in 1572. Sovereignty was transferred to the Duchy of Jülich in 1688 (without changing administrators), where Gelsdorf was associated with Amt Neuenahr before becoming independent in 1737. At that point, I place it in Minor-Dynastic Germany.
- Lantershofen, near Ahrweiler. This was actually a seven-way condominium, a structure that seems to have been in place since the 13th century (although not necessarily always with seven participants). The identities of the participants over time are poorly documented and I make no attempt to sort them out. Instead, I simply treat Lantershofen as an independent lordship in Jointly-Ruled Germany.
- Wald, near Bad Münstereifel. Little is known about this lordship other than it was a possession of the Barons and Counts of Gymnich zu Vischel. I place it in Minor-Dynastic Germany.
