Lordship of Gemen

The Lordship of Gemen dates from 1092. It was seated at Gemen castle, which had existed for at least a century, and consisted of a mere three villages. In 1492, the Gemen line died out and its territory was acquired by Holstein-Pinneberg, thereby becoming part of Schaumburgian Germany. When the Schaumburg line died out in 1640, Gemen became part of Limburgian Germany. When that line of Limburgians died out in 1801, Gemen was acquired by the Boineburg family, which I place in Lower Noble Germany. The Lordship was abolished at the end of the Holy Roman Empire.
