County of Eberstein
Eberstein became a county in 1195, but ceded a 50 percent interest to the Margraviate of Baden-Baden in 1387. (The unified Margraviate of Baden was the Zähringian participant between 1503 and 1535.) The condominium lasted until 1660, when the Eberstein line died out. The County was then geographically partitioned between Baden-Baden, the Bishopric of Speyer, and the Duchy of Württemburg. I treat the County as being in personal union with Baden-Baden until Baden was reunited in 1771. By then, the Eberstein territory had been consolidated under Baden (although Speyer retained some rights in the town of Gernsbach), and I treat it as an integral part of the reunited Margraviate.
