Birlenbach & Fachingen condominium

This page covers an administrative condominium located just southwest of the city of Diez that consisted of the villages of Birlenbach and Fachingen. I cannot document with precision when the sovereign Nassau-Dillenburg granted a share of administrative rights to (probably) Leiningen-Hardenburg, but it was around the beginning of the 15th century. When the Westerburg region shifted to Runkelian Germany, the interest in the condominium went with it. We begin with a brief chronology of the condominium during the period before the database begins.

    • ~1400: Founded when a Leiningian entity (probably Hardenburg) obtained a share of administrative rights from Dillenburg
    • 1467: Leiningian share shifted to Runkelian Germany
    • 1547: Runkelian share shifted to Leiningen-Westerburg-Schaumburg
