Herrschaft/Gericht Lommersum
Prior to 1712, Kerpen and Lommersum were distinct Herrschaften, albeit under common administration. Beginning in 1712, the Herrschaften became Gerichte within a combined autonomous entity under Jülich sovereignty. In 1786, that entity became an independent County with two subdivisions.
