Herrschaft Hamb

Hamb, located south of Sonsbeck, was probably founded in the 13th century and became a Herrschaft within the County of Geldern in 1330. In 1708, administrative responsibility transferred to the Duchy of Cleves, but sovereignty remained with Geldern. During that time, I render the simplified country name as Guelders-Cleves. Finally in 1780, sovereignty also transferred to Cleves and Hamb became a the equivalent of a Herrlichkeit within Kreis Kleve.
