Amt Haiger
Haiger is perhaps the oldest town in the core County of Dillenburg, dating from the 8th century. A Gericht/Amt, initially consisting of the Haiger, Frohnhausen, and Niederdresselndorf parishes, had been established there by the 14th century (although the Frohnhausen parish shifted to Dillenburg—presumably before 1561). In 1594, the village of Wilgersdorf was moved into the Wilnsdorf/Rödgen parish, which was part of the Haingericht. When Ottonian lands were partitioned in 1607, the villages of the Hickengrund (the Niederdresselndorf parish enhanced by the village of Holzhausen) were transferred to Vogtei Burbach. The rest of the Amt was assigned to the County of Dillenburg and remained part of that county/Landesteil through 1806..
