Kloster Itzehoe
The Itzehoe convent (Kloster) was founded in the early 13th century near the mouth of the Stör River and moved upstream to the town of Itzehoe in 1263. Its land holdings consisted primarily of scattered properties in various villages, although it did have full control over some villages.
The Kloster was converted to a largely secular (albeit distinctly Protestant) organization during the reformation and as such maintained control over its territory. It was excluded from the partition of Holstein in 1544 and instead was jointly ruled by the resulting countries.
