Amt Neuhaus

Amt Neuhaus was not connected to the rest of the Duchy of Lauenburg, being upstream on the north bank of the Elbe. It was divided into three Vogteien, based in Haar, Pinnau, and Neuhaus itself (the last being called the “Hausvogtei”). After the Napoleonic Wars, it remained part of Hanover, while the rest of Saxe-Lauenburg north of the Elbe became Danish.

The current Gemeinde called Amt Neuhaus contains all of the villages of the Lauenburgian Amt, plus some villages on the north bank of the Elbe that were Guelphic, but never part of the Lauenburgian Amt.
