Territory of the County of Regenstein-Blankenburg (1566-1671)

This page covers the territory of the County of Regenstein-Blankenburg through 1671. Between 1599 and 1651, when the territory was partitioned between the Principality of Halberstadt (Regenstein) and the Principality of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel (Blankenburg), the territory was under the sovereignty of the Bishopric/Principality of Halberstadt, but its administration was outsourced to other countries or foreign noblemen. The last of those foreign noblemen was the Count of Tattenbach, who continued to administer the both Regenstein and Blankenburg until 1671, at which time administration reverted to the respective sovereigns.
