Amt Mühlingen
Amt Mühlingen was geographically separate from the rest of Anhalt. It was under Anhalt sovereignty in 1606, but was administered by the adjacent County of Barby and so was excluded from the division of the principality. Anhalt assumed administrative responsibility after the last Count of Barby died in 1659, but it became a Senioratsamt instead of being assigned to one of the four principalities.

In 1669, Amt Mühlingen was reassigned to Anhalt-Zerbst. Between 1685 and 1714, it was spun off as a subordinate principality. When the territory of Anhalt-Zerbst was partitioned in 1797, Mühlingen was assigned to Anhalt-Bernburg.
