Camberg condominium
This page covers the territory of the Camberg condominium between the Electorate of Trier and Ottonian Nassuvian entities. The territory was never a coherent country, but it warrants country-level treatment to capture the different participants in the condominium over time.
To keep the country names from becoming too unwieldy, I drop terms that I think are expendable. The dropped terms are rendered in gray for the first country in which they appear, then are omitted altogether in later countries. We begin with a brief chronology of the condominium during the period before the database begins.
-
- 1420: Condominium established between Nassau-Dillenburg and Eppstein
- 1428-1481: Sovereign shares shifted among original participants, Katzenelnbogen, and Hesse, with the Electorate of Trier frequently assuming administrative responsibilities
- 1508: Eppstein share transferred to Königstein
- 1535: Königstein share transferred to Trier

- Trier\Dillenburg-Diez & Hadamar

Simplified country names identified as “external” or “shared” also apply to other condominia. Rather than duplicate the information on multiple pages, the information for the country combination is provided only on the page where it is identified as “shared”. On condominium pages that do not contain the information, the name is identified in the index as “external” and the link leads to the page where the information is “shared”. When you click on an “external” link, you can use the back arrow to return to the original page. Alternatively, you can use the links in the “Predecessor” or “Successor” sections of the combination you are looking at to go to the pages of the combinations that preceded or succeeded it.
