Principality of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel

This page covers the territory of the Principality of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel from 1495, when it was revived in a partition of Welfian lands, until 1806. Between 1596 and 1617, Wolfenbüttel had direct sovereignty over, was in personal union with, or had administrative responsibility for all Welfian lands except Lüneburg. It was the only Welfian territory never to have been absorbed into the Electorate of Hannover.
