Amt Wustrow
Wustrow castle was built in the early 13th century, where it was part of Grafschaft Lüchow. In 1320, the Grafschaft was absorbed into the Duchy of Brunswick-Lüneburg, but Wustrow retained some administrative independence from the rest of Lüchow. For lack of a better term, I characterize it as an Amt during the period covered by the data base. It was divided between two Vogteien.
In 1617, Wustow was transferred to the spin-off Principality of Lüneburg-Dannenberg (the rest of Lüchow having been transferred in 1591). Beginning in 1636, that principality and its constituent Ämter were administered by Wolfenbüttel while remaining under the sovereignty of Lüneburg. In 1671, the principality was abolished and its constituent Ämter reverted to Lüneburg.
