Unterherrschaften associated with Oberamt Linz

The four Unterherrschaften associated with Oberamt Linz were grouped with it primarily for statistical purposes. All were administered by Electorate subjects throughout the period covered by the database, and were considered part of the Electorate of Cologne.

 

Two of the Unterherrschaften were exclaves associated with Amt Altenwied. Herrschaft Lahr was on the Wied, upstream from Neustadt. Herrschaft Schönstein was on the Sieg, well to the northeast of the Amt itself. It should be understood that the lists of villages below also apply to the period between 1718 and 1803, when they were statistically treated as part of the Oberamt.
