Unterherrschaften associated with Amt Nideggen
The eight Unterherrschaften associated with Amt Nideggen were under the sovereignty of the Duke of Jülich, but were not administered by his appointees. Their association with the Amt was primarily for statistical purposes. When the administrators were Jülich subjects (typically with rights of inheritance), I assign the Unterherrschaft to the same country as the Gerichte in the Amt.

Chronological list of countries to which the locally-administered Unterherrschaften belonged
When the administrators were foreigners, I assign the Unterherrschaften to different countries, as follows:
- Herrlichkeit Eicks was administered by the County of Blankenheim and is placed in Jülich-Blankenheim.
- Herrlichkeit Thum was administered by the Electorate of Trier and is placed in Jülich-Trier.
- Herrlichkeit Burgau was administered by the Duchy of Guelders (Jülich-Guelders) until Guelders was partitioned in 1713 and Burgau was assigned the Roermond portion (Jülich-Roermond).
- Herrlichkeit Kettenheim split off from Gericht Vettweiss in 1628. It was administered by the Electorate of Cologne (Jülich-Bonn) until 1757, and by the County of Leyen-Hohengeroldseck (Jülich-Hohengeroldseck) thereafter.
